5 stars to the team at Allied. Geronimo and his partner saved the day when they came to my home after a severe leak had damaged my closet and bedroom. They acted quickly and professionally to dry the rooms out and prepare them for being restored. I was so pleased and relieved to work with this team. This includes the professionalism of Misty who took my initial call. She knew how stressed I was and was right there to help me with a plan of action – all leading to a great result! Thanks so much! If temperatures tend to freeze in your area, be sure to protect your pipes. Insulate both hot and cold water pipes using heat tape or pipe sleeves available in your home improvement store. If you have water supply lines in your garage, keep the garage door closed as often as possible. Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warmer air to circulate. If you plan to spend some time away from your home, leave the heat on and set your thermostat to at least 55 degrees. You can’t control the weather, but you can put up a good fight to save your pipes.

Most of us are very familiar with lockout/tagout procedures, test-before-touch practices, and applying safety grounds. While these are key safety aspects of putting equipment into an electrically safe condition, there are other safety items that need to be addressed when working in a natural disaster area. Items such as air quality, structural issues, and chemical spill exposure come into play. It is the responsibility of each company to keep its own people safe and supply them with special personal protective equipment (PPE), such as rubber boots, respirators, dust masks, portable gas monitors, and rubber gloves. As a service company, you must also coordinate with plant safety personnel you've contracted with to develop special safety procedures to address the ever-changing site conditions. Frequent safety meetings are a must to keep everyone up to date with the most current hazard conditions on the site.

Today’s precision welding shops specializing in plastic injection mold, dies and tooling repair have a wide range of new technologies available to enhance their ability to provide the highest level of quality, craftsmanship, and service to their clients. One of the fastest growing technologies is the use of manual laser welding systems as an alternative to traditional microscope GTA welding.
HEPA air scrubbers remove contaminants from the air. This is an especially important piece of fire damage restoration equipment, as lingering soot particles can lead to health problems in a structure’s inhabitants after a fire. Commercial air scrubbers are also important in mold remediation when filtering mold spores from the contaminated environment. HEPA filtration ensures that even the smallest soot or mold particles are removed from the air.
Understand that there are several people who represent the insurance company during a claim, so you want to know where the decision is coming from. Was it your agent who told you, the insurance adjuster, or a contractor? Each person plays a different role. Don't be afraid to request clarifications to avoid misunderstandings. When a claim is denied, you will normally receive something in writing advising you of the official decision.

It is possible to recover from a catastrophic event with a more reliable system than before. However, the speed and efficiency of the recovery will depend on the availability and accuracy of documentation. In preparation or planning for the recovery of an electrical system, the facility should ensure that all drawings/documentation are up to date and a copy is kept in a safe location that can be accessed after the event.

Inspect the defects. To find the source of the defects, we perform a visual inspection as high as 24x magnification, use dye-penetrant inspection (DPI), or use fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI). This allows us to find small pits, microscopic cracks and larger cracks in the gate. If these defects are not identified and repaired, more problems can arise for the gate and the mold.
Inspect damaged materials for mold and mildew. Mold can start to grow in the right conditions in as little as 24 hours. For long-term issues, like mold caused by attic condensation, the mold may have started growing a long time ago. And if you find mold and mildew issues, you need to be very careful. Some mold is toxic to humans, and all mold is very damaging to the materials it infests. For small mold issues, cut out the material, bag it, and throw it away immediately. For serious mold issues, get out of the area, shut down any airflow (to avoid spore contamination) and call a professional. And keep in mind that mold can show up in hidden areas like inside walls or under floors, so this inspection and water damage repair will be ongoing.

Structure is a word I don’t care for, but it seems to be required in most everything we do. In mold design, mold building, molding parts, and, yes, in mold repair. As a kid, my dad used to “structure” any rebuilding work on 19th-century gasoline engines that my brothers and I did. Coming home one day to find his super-organized shop littered with pistons, flywheels, crankshafts, and other miscellaneous engine parts and tools, he “structured” an immediate change in our work habits. After that painful experience, we did not have the freedom to just tear into the old engines without first clearing with him our plan for the day—which meant we would always be tested as to what we thought a good rebuilding sequence should be, based on what we know about a particular engine. It took a few rebuilds to appreciate the value of a structured sequence.

No need to take a wrecking ball to the entire house at the sight of a little mold.  You can keep the price down by focusing just on the area where there is visible mold.  For example, mold on drywall in one corner of the room only needs cut out and replaced in that corner.  Yes, the rest of the room (and maybe adjoining rooms) should be cleaned, but only damaged drywall needs to be cut out and replaced.

Once you discover moisture, your first instinct may be to open windows to help with the drying process, but it may not be your best move. For example, if your building is mechanically ventilated, the systems need constant pressure levels to work correctly. You also want to avoid excess coolness or heat and humidity, or you may end up complicating the drying process.
